Ludwigias are popular stalk plants in the aquarium hobby and have been cultivated for decades. Ludwigia arcuata is native to the USA and colonizes humid swamp areas there. It is considered the most delicate species for underwater life. Its emersed stems are usually pure green; submerged stems, on the other hand, have a brownish to reddish coloration. Here, too, the general rule applies: the stronger the lighting, the more intense the coloration. When pruning, cut back to the lower third; the stems will then sprout again with many new side shoots.
